First time registrations:
For a first time registration on the Classic and Historic Club Permit Scheme, you should check the Vic Roads website and the
attached Club Permit Scheme Guidelines on how to obtain a club permit for your vehicle.
You will need to meet certain eligibility conditions.
- Your VW must be a
minimum 25 years old and UNMODIFIED. For Modified vehicles talk to the Club Permit Officers first.
- You need to be a current financial member of the Volkswagen club of Victoria. You can apply/renew your membership online
If your vehicle is eligible, it will need a current RWC and pass an eligibility inspection by a Club Permit Officer. The inspection incures a one of fee of $200.00
DO NOT GET THE ROADWORTHY UNTIL YOU HAVE CONTACTED THE CLUB PERMIT OFFICERS ON AT chplates@vwclub.com.au.
Please see the attached Club Permit Scheme Guidelines for full details on how to obtain a club permit for your vehicle.
Please note: In order to ensure that all requirements are completed prior to the expiry of the roadworthy certificate, we reiterate that you must contact the Club Permit Officers to coordinate the timing of your vehicle's inspection prior to obtaining a roadworthy certificate. This will allow you to ensure that once the roadworthy certificate is obtained, you will be able to get your vehicle inspected with enough time to allow for the processing of your application by VWCV and then VicRoads.
